Here at Stoltzfus & Sons Builders, we specialize in cedar roofing and siding. Cedar shakes come in a few different sizes and thickness. Most times we install cedar shakes on top of 1x3 lath. However, if there is plywood on your house, we would use a mesh cedar breather. We always use stainless steel nails on cedar roofing installations.

We also install copper flashing in the valleys or around chimneys and endwalls. We use Roofers Buggies that can extend over decks and shrubbery to protect them from tear off material.
